My 1988 R31 Nissan Skyline
Back in July of 2006 we owned a *cough*VB Commodore*cough* that was trying to
break down deaths door. Well, it succeded a few days after our son Cody was born.
As we had complications with Cody we were back and forth to and from the
hospital. We really needed a reliable car that was cheap to run and had room for
the four of us so I went car hunting and found this...
It came with the wrong size tyres, a missing stereo and surround but it was
a bargain and ran on gas so we were happy. Wasnt long before i found the r31
skyline club forums and with that the parts I needed to fix the inside of the
car and install our new stereo. Yay, beats in the car.
Wasnt long before
I started thinking about what else I could do to make it look a bit better.
I eventually bought a new tail light to replace the old faded one, got some
clear front indicator lenses, found a non dented bumper and also some silo rims...
Seeing as i had a bumper that was not dented i decided to cut my old one in
half and make a front lip. Yeah, it was way to big and scraped on everything but I liked it...
For a while at least.
Wasnt long before our oil pump packed it in and it was off the road for a
few months. We drove around in my RA65 Celica
for a while which was cool, the Celica is a damn good car, but folding the seats
over to get the kids in and out wasnt much chop.
A few months after we
finally got the 31 back on the road I decided to get some new rims, oh and of
course some penguin stickers for the rear quarter panels...
I was starting to really like the look of the 31 again. Decided to trim the
lip down to a practical length and put it back on. Somewhere along the line I
also decided to get some personalised plates seeing as they were only going to
cost $170 once off. My plan was to make it my car, but yeah fat chance, my
partner Emma still gets to drive it a lot, maybe even more than I do lol...
So after a while I decided to paint the front bumper black and while picking
up the eldest boy from school dropped down to our local boat ramp to get a decent
looking pic...
I picked up a bodykit as a xmas present for her. Lol, who buys their car xmas gifts?
Painted the kit up to match the car...
